Many scams offer you something great at no cost, insisting that you 'won' something; Proceed with caution.

Be aware of what it is that you have to do and what information you have to give in return. Question every aspect of what they say so you know exactly what could happen if you respond to their offer..

Don't follow their embedded computer links to verify their offer. Remember...if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

If you are unsure if it is legitimate:Contact the company directly using your own information from an account statement or credit card. NEVER use the information provided in the email.

When you do web site transactions, make sure you are on the right site and that you see the padlock showing your information is sent securely.

If you think you are a victim, report it to the appropriate people in your organization if at work. If you believe financial information may be stolen, contact your financial institution immediately.
