Hardware and System Setup :: RE: How Do I Show My Kiosk on Multiple TV Screens?

Thank you for your post. I have found that many companies from Asia have minimum order quantities and often a requirement of a ship container. Are you looking for individual customer sales or partners?

Hardware and System Setup :: RE: mouse

A device that controls the movement of the cursor or pointer on a display screen. A mouse is a small object you can roll along a hard, flat surface. Its name is derived from its shape, which looks a bit like a mouse, its connecting wire that one can imagine to be the mouse's tail, and the fact that one must make it scurry along a surface. As you move the mouse, the pointer on the display screen moves in the same direction. Mice contain at least one button and sometimes as many as three, which have different functions depending on what program is running.

Reseller / Installer Issues :: How do you convert PowerPoint to graphics?

StrandVision digital signage subscription(s) allow you to convert your Microsoft PowerPoint file into a series of images that will work well with your signage. After the conversion process is complete (normally within 10 minutes), an email will be sent to the subscriber or trial demo user with instructions on how to download your images. If you wish this notification to be sent to a different email address, please enter that address in the Content Email area.

Note: This conversion tool is for PowerPoint 97 through 2007 files that are smaller than 8MB. If you are using PowerPoint 2007 and are having trouble with fonts, click on the Office logo in the upper left of the screen, click on PowerPoint Options at the bottom, select the Save option on the left, and check the "Embed fonts in the file" box.

To upload your 97-2007 PowerPoint file, click the browse button, locate your file and press the send button to complete the transfer. Depending on the size of your PowerPoint file, this may take a minute or two. Thank you for using StrandVision Digital Signage and the PowerPoint converter. Please contact Amy Hansen (715-833-9501 x101) and/or email: amy@strandvision.com.

Reseller / Installer Issues :: Demo: 30-Day and Stand alone

Create a 30-day demo for your customer prior to your visit with them. Install this demo as a stand alone on your laptop.

Your customer may be willing to give you a couple of graphics (e.g., JPGs or GIFs) ahead of time. However, you may find some examples of content via their website. Go into their demo to change the PREFERENCES to their color theme & choose ADVANCED settings as well as the SPLIT SCREEN for a different display look. Send an email of the 10-page demo to your customer from within the VIEW SIGNAGE area. Give your customer the Username and the case sensitive password after your demo. They will have the remainder of 30 days to work in the software modifying content as they wish. Call Amy at StrandVision if questions about how to set up a stand alone demo for your customer at a trade show, sales at a bass tournament or football game, etc.

Reseller / Installer Issues :: Automatically restart StrandVision digital signage using XP

Here’s a handy way to log right into StrandVision if you have to reboot your computer. The suggestion is thanks to Mario Medrano of Luther Midelfort-Mayo Health System

I wanted a way to log right into StrandVision on our dedicated computer if the power went out or if we had to reboot for some other reason. I looked around and found an article from Microsoft at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231
that describes the different steps to automatically launch programs and communications (including StrandVision digital signage). This process works for Microsoft Windows XP – I can’t vouch for Vista or any other operating system – and it involves editing the Registry, so be sure to make a backup before you begin.

If the PC loses power or if needing to install patches from Microsoft and the PC has to be restarted, you can now have the PC automatically log into the account with the screen setting configurations and restart StrandVision--without user interaction.

Start by creating a local admin account that will be used for installing StrandVision in the future.

Then, follow the steps below:

You can use Registry Editor to add your log on information. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
3. Using your account name and password, double-click the DefaultUserName entry, type your user name, and then click OK.
4. Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type your password under the value data box, and then click OK.
5. If there is no DefaultPassword value, create the value. To do this, follow these steps:
* In Registry Editor, click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
* Type DefaultPassword as the value name, and then press ENTER.
* Double-click the newly created key, and then type your password in the Value Data box.
6. If no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows XP automatically changes the value of the AutoAdminLogon registry key from 1 (true) to 0 (false) to turn off the AutoAdminLogon feature.
7. Double-click the AutoAdminLogon entry, type 1 in the Value Data box, and then click OK.
8. If there is no AutoAdminLogon entry, create the entry. To do this, follow these steps:
* In Registry Editor, click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
* Type AutoAdminLogon as the value name, and then press ENTER.
* Double-click the newly created key, and then type 1 in the Value Data box.
9. Quit Registry Editor.
10. Start, click Restart, and then click OK.

After your computer restarts and Windows XP starts, you can log on automatically.

Hardware and System Setup :: Is a network card needed? Set up requirements?

Yes, one network card. We recommend a hard-wired network connection instead of a wireless (if an option). Any video card will work, however, having one with good direct-x capabilities will provide for smoother playback of scrolling text, video, etc. Get one that is rated well with recent PC video games for the best performance.

Since StrandVision Digital Signage is an internet-driven system, there are very few requirements for the Basic system. For video playback, a Windows 2000 or XP computer system with 2.5ghz or faster computer, 512MB Ram, 40GB hard drive, VGA display adapter with 64MB RAM(or more). A web browser that supports Javascript and Flash (Internet Explorer 3.0 or Netscape 4.0)

Here's the link: http://www.strandvision.com/requirements.html

Common Signage Questions :: $name$ not substituted in Radar screen title?

I noticed that the $name$ is not substituted on the radar screen title-- at least using the 'demo' account I am testing! No big deal, but an fyi anyway. By the way, so far so good, the system works very well!
